Dr. Jessica Wright graduated from West Virginia University School of Medicine in 2002. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from West Virginia Wesleyan where she was captain of the Track and Field Team. Balancing academics and her athletic career made her especially prepared for the rigors of medical school. Her interest in medicine began at the age of 11 when her grandfather had an abdominal aneurysm repair. She was enamored with the vascular surgeon’s ability to save her grandfather. This led Dr. Wright to apply to general surgery residencies across the nation. Dr. Wright finished her residency and became board certified in General Surgery. She then took her first job in trauma surgery at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge.
